So close to heaven, Kunsthalle Emden
So close to heaven; Clouds in art
Kunsthalle Emden, Germany
May 24 to November 2, 2025
I have several works included in this group exhibition taken from my series The Celestials and Cloud Negatives. There will also be a video screening of my A Daily Sea 365 seascapes.
“The Kunsthalle Emden is devoting a comprehensive exhibition to this complex topic, which also serves as a homage to the East Frisian sky. Works from various eras and genres are on display, from classical landscapes to contemporary installations. The sky can thus be rediscovered in its poetic and political dimensions—but also understood as a mirror of the inner self and a sign of our times.”
The exhibition presents over one hundred works from more than 150 years by over 30 international artists: Heiner Altmeppen, Jean Arp, Sven Drühl, Berend Goos, Anna Grath, Daniel Hausig, Wenzel Hablik, Erich Heckel, Geoffrey Hendricks, Almut Linde, Hiroyuki Masuyama, Bjørn Mehlus, Nanne Meyer, Lyoudmila Milanova, Gabriele Münter, Emil Nolde, Yoko Ono, Robin Page, Ursula Palla, Richard Prince, Franz Radziwill, Gerhard Richter, Simon Roberts, Alexander Rodchenko, Yvonne Roeb, Christian Rohlfs, Ugo Rondinone, Valentin Ruths, Michael Sailstorfer, Josef Scharl, David Schnell, Gustav Schönleber, Nedko Solakov, Klaus Staeck, Rolf Staeck, Walter Strich-Chapell, Hans Trimborn, Nasan Tur, Felix Vallotton
